This is an excellent and very descriptive devotional! I absolutely LOVE it!!! Each devotion has it’s own special meaning and I love the way she relays the traits of outdoors to the traits of our loving Savior.

I have been mesmerized by this beautiful book from the first page. This author has an amazing gift of delicately and perfectly describing everyday miracles and revelations. As an avid lover of nature, my heart is truly warmed by the articulate way in which she shares the incredible presence of God every day in this beautiful world he has given us.

Wow! Ashlyn McKayla Ohm can WRITE!!! She captures the wonder of the outdoors. And, in that context, she gives amazing spiritual insight. Her word-pictures are beautiful, and memorable. She teaches truth in a way that is real, and stirring. Love this book!!

I have known Ashlyn for many years and have known that she was a gifted writer, but when I received her book and started reading it, I was so amazed! She has a beautiful, poetic writing style. Her imagery and descriptions of nature and her experiences are fantastic. But what I am most impressed with are the deep spiritual truths that she brings out in her devotional. Just this morning, after I did my Bible study, I picked up her book and read one of her devotions and it happened to go right along with my Bible study lesson. I find her devotions to be relevant and aligned with Scripture. The photography in the book is beautiful, as well. There are 52 devotions in the book, so it would make a great Christmas gift for a friend or loved one, so they can start the new year out with a lovely weekly devotional.

Absolutely loved the first week from the first word!! I was tempted to read it like a novel and finish it in a week. But I restrained! Being an outdoor enthusiast it has encouraged me to be more aware and grateful of the beauty of God’s creation everywhere I look. Ashlyn your ability to capture a mind with your writing style is a very unique gift! Can’t wait for my next week!
I highly encourage a person to buy this book

I read though Ashlyn’s first devotional over Christmas break in 2021-2022 (I couldn’t put it down and make it last the entire year, I had to read it in 52 days!). Her first devotional is as inspiring as her regular blog posts on here and is a great collection of devotions to spend some time to pause and reflect at the wonders of creation. I’ve given these out as Christmas gifts and gifts in general, and I would highly recommend purchasing multiple copies of these as gifts for family and friends. I’m hoping we’ll see future devotions and inspirational writings from Ashlyn (in addition to her great new novel which everyone should purchase as well!).

I first became aware of Ashlyn Ohm from her writings in the Ouachita Life newspaper I picked up while visiting the Caddo Gap, Arkansas area where my family has property. I was quite captivated by her writings that were so unique, blending the natural world of woods and forests with God’s spiritual world. I then checked her website and found A Year In The Woods and immediately integrated it with my Christian readings, reading a devotional a week. I am such a fan I told many of my friends, especially the ones that spend time in the outdoors, hiking and hunting, that several of them ordered the book. Then I have sent the book to family friends that I thought would find a weekly devotional reading helpful. And one of the really nice things that has come from this experience is that I feel I know her, and when she writes “my friends” in a devotional, she is talking directly to me.
